With the prestigious Red Bud National upon them, the FLO Motorsports backed team at Manluk Rock River Racing would be excited to perform in front of thousands of fans at the historic Michigan venue. With competitors in both, the 250cc and 450cc classes, the Yamaha assembly was destined to excel to top-tier finishes from the moment the green flag waved in Buchanan.
Continuously ascending throughout the 450MX classification, would be Luca Marsalisi. The rider from Connecticut had shown brilliant speed in the races prior, and proceeded to immediately engage onto the Michigan circuit with excellent momentum; to acquire twenty-fourth in qualification, prior to beginning the main events that followed. For moto number-one, Luca would begin around the twentieth-place position, and continuously fought for a higher standing amongst a stacked division of opponents. As the latter laps of the moto then came to fruition, it was the vision of Marsalisi that allowed him to find the fastest lines en route to the finish-line, where he obtained a notable result of seventeenth. But the competitive spirit of Marsalisi would rise to an even higher level for the following round of racing, where he began the moto in thirteenth, and contended for positions inside the top-ten. He would flourish on every facet of the raceway, and undoubtedly showcased one of the strongest performances of his career — to obtain a spectacular eleventh at moto’s end, for fourteenth overall.
