MUC-OFF / FXR / CLUBMX – PRE-RACE REPORT - ROUND 9 INDY – EAST/WEST SHOWDOWN

East meets West for the first time in Indy: In the blink of an eye, the season hits the halfway point this weekend and what a crazy season it has been so far. The unfortunate part is that a fair number of top riders are out with injury and hopefully on the mend. For the 250 riders, this weekend is a test against the entire field so every lap on the track has more importance. Similar to Triple Crown races, qualifying will be a premium in Indianapolis. The intensity of the night will start with free practice so stay tuned for what is projected to be the wildest race of the season so far.

MAX VOHLAND #92: Finally! Max and the team were able to put together an example of what they are capable of with a fifth-place finish in Daytona. To the casual viewer fifth place may not seem like a monumental achievement, but all things considered it was very impressive. Everyone is now familiar with Max’s story and the adversity he has fought through to get to this point. Everyone is also familiar with the rear hand brake setup and the engineering the team developed to make him competitive. Now everyone will become familiar with Max Vohland and how good of a racer he is. He has always been good, but other things have overshadowed his story. With everything in place, it is time to shine the spotlight back on Max. His determination and competitive fire will be on display at Indianapolis where he will thrive at the opportunity to line up with the entire field of 250’s. Keep an eye on the #92 – it is going to be good!

JETT REYNOLDS #54: While the rest of the team kept racing in Daytona, Jett took some time off the bike and attended as a spectator – so to speak. He worked with the team throughout the day, helping with track conditions, race analysis and motivation for his fellow teammates. It is refreshing to see how this group of riders have come together to help each other on and off the track. Jett is coming off his first Supercross top ten finish at Arlington and will be riding the high into Indianapolis. Training back at the ClubMX facility has been intense and it appears as though Jett has hit on a routine that works for him. The East/West format will be a good test for him to ramp up the intensity early in the day and carry it through the night.

COTY SCHOCK #37: This dude is amazing. Racing his 250 in the 450 class at Daytona was fun to watch AND he was competitive. He finished fifth in his heat race to advance directly to the main event. On our headsets – “What a cool opportunity for Coty to race with Cooper Webb and Jason Anderson on his way to the main event”. His goal on the evening was to finish in the top fifteen. Mission accomplished! He finished fourteenth overall on the night. Why do it? Coty is a racer and racing in Daytona produces a better training experience over what he would do during the week. The intensity, the competition, the challenge and the uniqueness of the opportunity all build character and race craft. As mentioned earlier in the season, Coty will methodically continue to be consistent and rise to the top of the standings as the season rolls on. His strategy is paying off. Arlington was the perfect example of that, where he achieved his personal best finish of second place. A huge achievement for himself and the team. Now it is on to Indianapolis where the East/West format can really shake things up. Coty will do Coty things and find his way to the front making for another memorable race.

MARK FINEIS #62: Mark will not be lining up in Indianapolis. His last two races have not been remotely representative of what his capabilities are, and he has personally made the decision to return home and try to sort through whatever is holding him back on race day. We have seen glimpses of his skill and know there is more in the tank simply because we see it on his training days. We will continue to provide updates on the situation as we learn more.

These recent YouTube videos are awesome as the team continues to perform at the highest level. Check out this one from Arlington.
