MUC-OFF / FXR / CLUBMX – PRE-RACE REPORT – ROUND 2 SAN DIEGO

OFF TO A GOOD START: Every year you hear the same thing “You cannot win the championship in the first round, but you can sure lose it” so bringing home a solid finish is step one. The pomp and circumstance around Anaheim 1 is unlike any other round. With the amount of industry, sponsors, celebrities and fans in attendance, it takes every bit of focus to perform on the track. It is also a time to see where the racers stack up against each other. Who put in the work? Who is ready to manage the pressure? Who wants to be the alpha dog this season? Nobody really knows until the gate drops. The plan for our team is to be smooth and steady all season to once again land on the podium when the checkered flag falls on the season.

COTY SCHOCK #37: Aboard his Flo Motorsports backed Yamaha, Coty had good speed all day and stuck to the plan. Getting the holeshot in his qualifying race reassured the team that the bike is one of the best on the track. From there the rest of the day (except for a small tip over in the heat race) went according to plan. Coty worked hard in the off season to continue building his strength and race craft. He brought home a respectable sixth place finish in the main event, battling right to last turn. Now, with a giant exhale, it is on to the San Diego and the rest of the season. Coty is an intelligent racer and does not get caught up in any drama or static that younger guys dwell on. That attitude will continue to propel him up the rankings as the season progresses. Rolling into San Diego is where the season really starts. With Anaheim 1 in the rearview mirror and a measure of where he is strong will convert to a more relaxed performance.

JETT REYNOLDS #54: The end result at Anaheim 1 was not exactly what Jett had worked his entire offseason for, and he personally considered it a failure. As a team, it was a total success and had to remind him as such. The goal was to check the box of completing his first supercross race and he did that with flying colors on his Flo Motorsports equipped Yamaha. If ever the was a race to get the proverbial monkey off your back, that was it. He rode great in qualifying, had a small tip over in his heat race but passed his was from last to seventh and made it straight to the main event. Going into the second turn of the main, Jett unfortunately landed on a down rider and tipped over relegating him to last place. Now with a bent-up bike he had to make the decision to continue racing or call it a day. Jett chose to persevere and do the best he could with the hand he was dealt. He completed all the laps and finished the race – his first race, and for that we are proud of him. With that race complete, San Diego will start the re-build of Jett Reynolds. He has the right attitude, desire, and team around him to make it happen.
