The Pacific Northwest brought mixed results: With a short break in the schedule, we look back at Washougal. Coty, Max and Alex were all looking forward to the event and some decent results. Knowing there would be a break after the race, it was a chance to really empty the tank.
COTY SCHOCK #37: Flo Motorsports backed Coty qualified well and was poised to continue his trend up the charts. Unfortunately, in moto one, he clipped the lip of a jump and crashed pretty hard. After watching a replay of the crash, he was lucky to get away with just a twisted ankle. He remounted, flush with adrenalin and was able to finish in the P23 position. Some therapy between motos helped a bit but definitely not one hundred percent. If anyone can persevere through the adversity, Coty is the guy. A mid-pack start in moto two led to some quick passes and a P16 finish. He was able to salvage some points and continue his pursuit of the coveted top twenty position in the SMX overall standing. Fortunately, the break in the schedule will help him recover and be ready for Ironman, followed by two rounds close to his home at Unadilla and Budds Creek.

MAX VOHLAND #92: Max also qualified well on Saturday and took that momentum right into moto one. He ran in the top five for the majority of the moto ultimately bringing it home in eighth place. We all continue to learn more about the affects of the hand brake and found that the hills of Washougal caused his body position to take a toll on his arms. A slight adjustment in moto two helped that situation but a sub-par start relegated him near the back of the pack. He fought his way back to a solid nineth place, giving him eighth overall on the day. That is his best outdoor finish of the season, proving that this kid will continue to fight. More good news for the Flo Motorsports backed athlete, Max has now moved up to eighth overall in the SMX points standings, putting him in a great position for the three-round finale.

ALEX FEDORTSOV #784: Alex continues to improve his performance on the track. Washougal was a brand-new track for him so there was a bit of a learning curve as he adapted to the unique characteristics of the layout aboard the Flo Motorsports equipped Yamaha. He tied his best performance this season with a P15 in moto one and had a bit of a slow start in moto 2 but rebounded to P19. Not bad for the rookie. The final three rounds are tracks that he has raced before so the expectations will increase as he looks to complete his first season.
JETT REYNOLDS #54 & REID TAYLOR #186: Both will make their return to racing for the final three rounds. Jett overcoming a leg injury from earlier this season and Reid, now with an Australian visa is positioned to improve on his good results from High Point.
COMING UP: Ironman will be exciting with the addition of the final Moto Scouting Combine, Women’s racing and the announcements for the MXoN team. Speaking of the latter, we are in full swing to support the MXoN team with the www.RaiseIt4USA.com raffle fundraiser. Please share the link with everyone so we can raise money to support the riders that will be selected.
LORETTA LYNNS AMATEUR NATIONAL: With a break in the pro schedule for most, ClubMX the training facility will have 30 amateurs represented in the largest amateur event in the world. For the most part, we will be there for ten days helping all the racers that train at the facility that have qualified for the event. It is easily the largest crop of racers that we have taken to the event and gladly support this amateur side of the sport.
Our YouTube channel has been crushing it with so cool behind-the-scenes content. Most recently, the video from Spring Creek has been posted.
